Flotsam (2012)

A non-verbal multimedia theatrical production which finds two strangers in the depths of some very dark waters... Developed and performed by Luke Carstens and Anthony Haenen, Flotsam incorporates strong sound design, animation, music, puppetry and physical theatre elements to create a work of magic-realism which sits somewhere between theatre and film. It debuted at Johannesburg's P.O.P.Art Theatre in June 2012. Following a run at the 2012 National Arts Festival in Grahamstown, Flotsam was selected to run the 2013 ABSA Klein Karoo Nationale Kunstefees in Oudtshoorn as part of the Baanbreek programme (re-titled as "Wrakstukke") where it received glowing reviews from critics and public alike.
